![]() This is why I think it’s a bummer that content is now being removed, as it’s perfectly valid to go back and do stuff you’ve missed. Lately it was stuff like Rat King or Revoker, but before that, when I ran out of Sundial god rolls I cared about, I went back and farmed until I got myself a Feeding Frenzy Rampage Blast Furnace from the Forge. There’s always something to go back and do. Yes, I know there are some people that have every title, but that’s like, a few dozen people out of a millions-large playerbase. I have raid exotics to chase, lore to find, titles to get, triumphs to hit, and seemingly impossible Crucible goals for me like Mountaintop and Not Forgotten. In addition to Rat King, I finally got Revoker last night, and I still have a very, very long list of things I can be doing in Destiny I haven’t done yet. The other thing this reminded me of is that despite all the current issues with Destiny, both in PvE and PvP with content removal and SBMM and what not, in the end, man, there is still a lot to do in this game. And getting Rat King, a quest I ditched because I didn’t want to find a team to do it with three years ago, is sort of the ultimate culmination of that change. It’s an “no duh” moment to be sure, but Destiny has gotten infinitely better the more social I’ve allowed myself to be in the game. This allows me to do things like post “hey who wants to farm Rat King kills” on Twitter with my Steam ID and have a full squad in a few minutes. My growing platform as a sort of Destiny “content creator,” though one that writes daily articles about the game instead of filming videos or streaming. Getting a few IRL friends into Destiny 2 for the first time, and playing some of the more challenging activities with them (before this, no IRL friends had played Destiny since like, The Dark Below). The app, which makes it beyond easy to find fireteams for most activities, with dozens of Nightfall/Raid/etc listings every hour. I would rarely raid or do Nightfalls or really do anything at all that required finding a team on my own. Pretty much my philosophy before this was that I played by myself, and that was it. The first is how much Destiny has changed for me once I opened up to the possibility of moving beyond my solo playstyle.
